ROUTES

  • ZULULAND BIRDING ROUTES-Ulundi has been the site of battlefields, royal residences and provincial government. It is situated in the White Umfolozi Valley n=and is bordered by rolling hills and thorn-tree plains. The area is not known for specific bird specials, but general mix of thornveld and grassland species in some lovely habitat: www.birdingroutes.co.za for more info.
  • BATTLEFIELD ROUTE- You will find more than one third (26) of the formal battlefield sites in KZN  in and around Zululand. The battles and wars focus mainly on the early Zulu battles and historical sites around Ulundi, the Voortrekker-Zulu wars, the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 and the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902.visit: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.   • ROUTE 66 – THE ZULULAND HERITAGE ROUTE- This new route along the R66 provincial road, runs from uPhongolo in the north to Gingindlovu on the Zululand Coastal Belt where it again joins the N2. This route focuses mainly on Zulu Culture and Heritage, on key events such as the annual Zulu Royal Reed Dance, Ulundi serves as the gateway to both entrances of the Route.
